The RTX development kit allows you to add real-time functionality to an application program. Programs that use RTX extensions can be linked as .exe files to run in the Win32 environment, or linked as .rtss executables to run using the deterministic real-time subsystem.
NOTE: The primary reason developers might build and test a program in the Win32 environment would be to check for, and eliminate, pointers that are accessing memory outside the application.
