Network Function Overview
RT-TCP/IP NIC drivers have three types of functions:
- Real-Time Network Device (RTND) functions: These are functions that an RT-TCP/IP NIC driver (RTDLL) must export in order to function with the RT-TCP/IP Protocol Stack.
- Driver Thread functions: These functions manage the additional threads in the RtndConfigure and RtndUpDown routines that an RT-TCP/IP driver generally starts. These threads handle interrupt processing, receive packet processing and optionally transmit packet post processing. Driver Thread functions are local to the NIC driver.
- Real-Time Network (RTN) Functions: These functions are provided by the RT-TCP/IP Protocol Stack for use by RT-TCP/IP drivers. Functions include those for allocating packets and passing packets up to the RT-TCP/IP Stack.
