Virtual Network

The RTX64 Virtual Network provides a virtual point-to-point connection between Windows and RTX64 that emulates a local area network connection between Windows and the Real-time Subsystem with no additional hardware required. This virtual network allows Windows and RTSS applications on the same system to use sockets to communicate.

Traditionally, embedded systems with complex Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) use Ethernet to connect the General Purpose Operating System (GPOS) to the Real Time Operating System (RTOS). The Virtual Network provides flexibility so the same applications can run and communicate across a network or can coexist on the same system, with no coding changes.

NOTE: Only one point-to-point connection is supported in the current release of RTX64.
