Understanding Monitor Status

NOTE: This content applies to RTX64 Monitor in RTX64 4.3 and later versions. For information on RTX64 Monitor in RTX64 4.2 and earlier, see Using RTX64 Monitor (RTX64 4.2 and Earlier).

You can view the current monitoring status in the top-right of the RTX64 Monitor window.

There are five possible states, listed below. Some RTX64 Monitor settings will either be active or grayed-out depending on the current state.

Status Icon Description In this state, you can...

Not enabled

Monitoring is not enabled.

 

Events and session triggers:

  • Start a new session

NOTE: Starting a session while in this state may cause non-determinism. To avoid this, enable monitoring and restart the RTX64 Subsystem through the RTX64 Control Panel before you start a monitoring session.

Session options:

  • Convert data to text
  • Delete session files

Enabled

Monitoring is enabled, the Subsystem is running, and there is no active session.

Events and session triggers:

  • Choose events to collect
  • Create, set, and delete start and stop triggers for the next session
  • Start a new session

Session options:

  • Configure event collection
  • Convert data to text
  • Delete session files

Running

There is an active monitoring session in progress.

Events and session triggers:

  • Choose events to collect
  • Create, set, and delete stop triggers for the current session

NOTE: Start triggers cannot be added, set, or deleted while a session is running.

  • Pause or stop the running session

Session options:

  • Configure event collection
  • Convert data to text
  • Delete session files

Paused

The current monitoring session is paused.

Events and session triggers:

  • Choose events to collect
  • Create, set, and delete start and stop triggers for the next session

NOTE: Session triggers have no effect while monitoring is paused.

  • Resume or stop the paused session

Session options:

  • Configure event collection
  • Convert data to text
  • Delete session files

RTX64 Subsystem is stopped

The Subsystem is stopped. You must start the Subsystem through the RTX64 Control Panel before you can start a monitoring session.

Events and session triggers:

  • All functionality grayed-out

Session options:

  • Convert data to text
  • Delete session files
