RTX64 Platform Components

IntervalZero’s RTX64 real-time platform streamlines and simplifies the development of complex systems. By extending Microsoft Windows with the RTX64 real-time extension, the RTX64 platform reduces costs, boosts quality and performance, and significantly reduces reliance on proprietary hardware such as DSPs and FPGAs. This topic lists the major RTX64 platform components and the software that provides them.

Vision

RTX64 Vision provides functionality for using GigE Vision Cameras within the real-time RTX64 environment. Using RTX64 Vision, you can quickly discover cameras on the network, query different camera configurations, and acquire image data. Through a provided communication library images can be passed between RTSS and Windows. Or a third party vision library, such as OpenCV, can be layered on top of RTX64 Vision interface to provide additional image processing functionality within RTSS.

Product Brief

Network Abstraction Layer (NAL)

The RTX64 NAL is a network layer that abstracts the network hardware and driver functions from upper-level protocol stacks and provides management interfaces for those upper layers to easily query for and use available network assets. It is a separate protocol layer from the RT-TCP/IP Stack. Using the NAL, you can more easily take advantage of network resources.

TCP/IP Stack

RTX64 provides processing and networking capability through an optional RT-TCP/IP protocol stack within the RTSS environment. In order to maximize portability between RTX64 and Windows, RTX64 provides an API that conforms to a subset of the functions defined in the Windows Sockets 2.0 (Winsock) specification for Windows.

The RT-TCP/IP Stack is installed with the RTX64 Runtime but requires an additional license. Contact IntervalZero Sales to purchase a license.

Virtual Network

The RTX64 Virtual Network provides a virtual point-to-point connection between Windows and RTX64 that emulates a local area network connection between Windows and the Real-time Subsystem with no additional hardware required. This virtual network allows Windows and RTSS application on the same system to use sockets to communicate.
