Converting a Device from Windows to wRTOS

You can convert ownership of PCI/PCIe devices between Windows and wRTOS using the Windows Device Manager, which you can access from wRTOS Settings.

Note: You should not convert a device that is currently in use.

To convert a device from Windows to wRTOS:

If you are converting a device that wRTOS does not provide out-of-the-box support for, you must create an INF file. For more information, see Creating an INF File for Custom Devices. For a list of drivers supported by wRTOS, see Supported NICs.

  1. Open Windows Device Manager from the Start menu or wRTOS Settings (Network / Interfaces page).
  2. Right-click on the device you want to convert, and then click Update driver.

  1. Click Browse my computer for drivers.

  1. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

  1. Select the device driver you want to convert.
  1. Click Next. Once Windows has successfully updated your driver, the converted device will appear in Device Manager:

Note: If the converted device doesn't appear in the Network Connections page in the Windows Control Panel following conversion, refresh the page.

  1. Configure the converted device:
  2. Add an interface for the converted device on the Network / Interfaces page in wRTOS Settings. Once added, click the name of the interface to view and configure the settings for that interface.
  3. You can optionally disable allocation of I/O Ports, use line-based interrupts (IRQs), request assignment of a specific IRQ, and share the requested IRQ with other wRTOS devices through the wRTOS Properties page for a selected wRTOS PCI/PCIe device. For more information, see Modifying wRTOS PCI/PCIe Device Properties and Configuring Interfaces.
